Complaint By NRI Living Abroad
The Government of India created the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA) to develop closer relationships with the Indian Diaspora. Through this, new initiatives and effective follow-up for the diaspora have become possible in shorter time frames.
MOIA serves as a Relationship Manager, Partnership Manager and Service Provider, both direct and indirect. It offers customised solutions to the expectations of the overseas Indian community, lends a strategic dimension to engagement with the diaspora and builds a knowledge network to tap the available resources.
The Ministry has introduced several initiatives to strengthen the traditional bonds between India and its diaspora. It is organised into three Divisions and three functional Units, two of which are headed by Joint Secretaries. The Protector General of Emigrants (PGoE) holds Public Hearings twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Fridays from 11:30 to 12:30, without any prior appointment. This is to ensure the redressal of grievances experienced by NRIs and PIOs during their stay in India.
